SMS Consent
Topcoat sends painting quotes to homeowners by SMS text message on behalf of independent painting contractors. This page documents how we collect prior express written consent before the first message is sent.
1. How Consent Is Collected
Consent is collected in person, during the painter’s on-site walkthrough, using a signed digital consent form on the contractor’s device — before any text message is sent:
- The homeowner provides their mobile phone number directly on the consent screen.
- The full disclosure below is displayed verbatim, and the homeowner signs with their finger or a stylus.
- Topcoat stores the signed record — the exact disclosure text and version, the signature, the phone number, and a server-side timestamp — as evidence of consent.
No message is ever sent to a number without an active signed consent on file, and consent is not a condition of purchase.
2. The Disclosure Homeowners Sign
By signing, I agree to receive text messages from Topcoat on behalf of my painting contractor at the mobile number I provided, including my painting quote and related follow-ups. 4. Message Types & Frequency
Messages are transactional: the homeowner’s painting quote and related follow-ups, typically 1–3 messages per quote request. Sample message:

5. Opting Out
- Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe. Opting out stops all messages; texting again requires a new signed consent.
